Spring Break and such

So the last few weeks have been pretty crazy. I went to Zions and St George for spring break and had a blast. We hiked for three days and it was great. I decided to not do the diet that week based on the fact that my roommates didn't want me to be grouchy and that I needed some carb and more calories to hike my heart out. It was great to eat real foods but I still didn't have a huge appetite and I didn't gain any weight! yay!

So since returning I have been back on the diet. However, before leaving Dr. Barker and I talked about me switching to the modified diet because I had been getting low blood sugars everyday causing me to be "an angry ravenous badger" and to get blurry vision. So, I am now eating a spoonful of peanut butter every day with lunch and it was helped immensely. I have been feeling so much better and I think I have been a little less snappy. On Saturday I may have over done it however. I went to a 2-hour Zumba class with Tylynn. If you have not tried Zumba I recommend it, it is absolutely fabulous. The funnest workout I have ever had. It was my decision to go on a 2- hour, 10 mile bike ride with Morgan after this that messed me up. I obviously did not have enough carbohydrates to actually do this, I got super low blood sugars and Morgan was genuinely concerned for my safety. I need to remember that just because I feel like I can does not mean my body can handle it. It was just too beautiful of a day to stay inside. The great news is I have lost a total of 16 lbs now with another weigh in on Thursday. The diet is going well though and the foods still taste pretty great. I will try to post more often. :)

Ahhh Samoas

So I was sick yesterday. Let me tell you, being sick on an all protein and veggie diet, not so fun. All I wanted was a piece of toast, the one thing I couldn't have. I am super proud of myself for not giving in to the calling of carbs. I am excited to see how much I have lost on Thursday. I mean Dr. B lost 10 lbs last week. I better do at least half that good right? If I haven't lost after being sick twice and not giving in to carbs I will be slightly bitter.

I looked out the window this afternoon and here comes Sara walking home from work with what in her hands? Oh my order of Girl Scout Cookies from a patient! I now have 3 boxes of Samoas that I can't eat! I had to put them in the storage room far from my sight to keep from devouring them.

In good news however, I got an 88% on my Respiratory and Hemotology test today. Ya thats right, I am kicking nursing school's butt.

The Begining

Wow what a week. It has been crazy. I started the diet on Monday. I also had clinicals Monday with a case study due. I had a huge project due on Wednesday and something almost every night. Probably not the best week to start such a rigid diet, but really is there a good week to start a diet, ever? Oh ya, I also threw up Monday morning at clinicals from not eating anything solid with my medications. Not the best sign. I then got home from work and what did Sara (my roommate) and Morgan (best friend and pretty much livin' handy man) make? Guacamole..... my favorite! and I couldn't have any of it. I just had to sit there and watch them scarf down the greatness.

Tuesday went a little better however. I honestly haven't been hungry on the diet. The puddings are pretty good and so are most of the drinks. I do however get cravings... example A: Pizza... I have been craving it for the last 2 days. But there is no giving in.

Today was an insanely busy day at work. We had a million walk-ins with one million film reviews. I however had a headache like none other right around lunch. Dr. B adjusted my neck (which was out in about all 7 vertebrae) and I iced it however the headache just continued to get worse. I finally gave in to taking some Excedrin, when you can't see straight, its time to use what you know works. I can at least see now. I don't know why I have such an awful headache, the only things I can think of is, either my electrolytes are off balance, I have really low blood sugar, or I am just so tense my body is rebelling. But hopefully by the morning I feel better.
